Our Face-to-Face fundraisers

Face-to-Face (F2F) fundraising involves donors contributing regularly through direct debit payments. This is an essential part of our fundraising as it enables us to plan for the future. It also gives potential donors the opportunity to talk directly to a representative of Yorkshire Cancer Research, giving them access to information about how we operate and how their money will be used to help save Yorkshire lives.
 

Why do we use Face to Face Fundraising?

Face-to-Face fundraising is used by many charities and is one of our most cost effective ways of finding new donors committed to giving regularly. Since we began using F2F in 2014, we have recruited thousands of new donors.
 
Face-to-face fundraising allows us to raise awareness, so that people, who may not normally hear about us, can find out about the vital work we do. We find it a particularly good way to get our message across to people who are not normally responsive to direct mail.
 
Face-to-face fundraising is one of the most successful ways to recruit new supporters and a large number will continue to support us for many years.
 
Supporters are asked to set up direct debits to us. This provides us with ongoing income meaning we can plan ahead and fund longer projects to benefit the people of Yorkshire. We would only encourage someone to sign up to support Yorkshire Cancer Research via direct debit if they were able to do so for a significant period of time, for example, at least a year.

Our teams of fundraisers are highly trained and enthusiastic individuals. They are dedicated to raising money and building awareness of our commitment to helping the people of Yorkshire avoid, survive and cope with cancer.

How to recognise a Yorkshire Cancer Research fundraiser

All of our fundraisers wear an I.D. badge and a Yorkshire Cancer Research t-shirt or jacket. If you are unsure as to whether someone claiming to be our representative is an authorised fundraiser please contact our Supporter Care Team on 01423 877229.
 
Our fundraisers use handheld electronic devices to capture supporter details to maintain the highest standard of data security and protection.
 

The quality of our fundraisers

We are committed to ensuring that our fundraisers offer a positive experience when interacting with the public, and are friendly, professional and helpful.
 
We are members of the Institute of Fundraising (IoF) and the Fundraising Regulator. All of our fundraisers follow the code of conduct set out by the IoF.
 
We also utilise mystery shoppers and carry out quality calling to make sure that all of our fundraisers meet the high standards that we expect from them every day.
 

Where do we fundraise?

Our Face-to-Face fundraising is conducted through our agency, who we have worked with since 2014. They carry out private site fundraising in and around Yorkshire, where they set up a Yorkshire Cancer Research stand in locations such as a shopping centre or supermarket. They also attend large shows and exhibitions. None of our fundraisers work Door-to-Door.

Are the fundraisers paid?

Yes they are. The fundraising agency is paid out of our dedicated fundraising budget which aims to recruit supporters who will help us double our annual income from £5m to £10m. This increase in funds is needed so we can make a significant investment in projects that will improve cancer outcomes in our region and reach our 10-year goal to save 2,000 extra lives every year in Yorkshire by 2025.
 

What happens to my personal information when I sign up to support the charity via direct debit?

All information is processed securely. We will then record your information on our database so that we can process your direct debit payments and keep you informed about how your support is making a difference to the lives of Yorkshire people (unless you have told us that you do not want to be contacted). Your monthly gift is protected by the direct debit guarantee.
 
We only pass your details on to a third party to process your payments. Your information will not be used by the third party for any other reason.
 

Do Face-to-Face fundraisers accept cash donations?

No, they are not licensed to accept cash or cheque donations. They are focussed on collecting long-term direct debits as supporters who give on this basis enable us to plan and budget.
