Cervical cancer screening in older women aged 55 – 64 years old
Older women are less likely to attend cervical cancer screening appointments compared with younger women, but the reasons for this are not clear. Professor Una Macleod and her team will carry out in-depth interviews with patients aged 55-64 in Yorkshire to discover their views on cervical screening. Interviews with health professionals will also take place to determine attitudes towards the screening of older women and views on its effectiveness. The results of these interviews will be used to develop training and awareness resources to encourage older women to get tested.
