The Flamme Rouge - Ride the final 1km

30 April 2020

To 3 May

Please see the official statement regarding the postponement of this year's Tour de Yorkshire event here. As a consequence, the Flamme Rouge has also been postponed, with rescheduled dates to be confirmed.

We are proud to be the official charity for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.

As part of our activity, we will be offering people with personal experience of cancer a unique opportunity to Shift Gears on Cancer and cycle the last kilometre of the route each day.

The final kilometre is marked with a red flag called the ‘Flamme Rouge’. The riders will set off from this point and cross the finish line in front of huge crowds, ahead of the caravan (a parade of publicity vehicles) and the professional cyclists.

The Flamme Rouge event will be taking place in the following locations:

  • Date TBC –  Redcar
  • Date TBC – Leyburn
  • Date TBC – Huddersfield
  • Date TBC – Leeds

You’ll be looked after by the Yorkshire Cancer Research events team and we’ll also provide each participant with a commemorative top to ride in. Our aim is to celebrate life with and after cancer and shout about the benefits of exercise following a cancer diagnosis.
