Centenary Celebration Raffle Terms and Conditions

General Rules  

  1. Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Centenary Raffle 2025 is run by Yorkshire Cancer Research, a charity registered in England and Wales (516898).  
  2. The Centenary Celebration Raffle 2025 is open to all residents of mainland Great Britain aged eighteen or over, except for Yorkshire Cancer Research employees. This excludes Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British Forces Post Office addresses according to Gambling Act 2005 regulations.  

Raffle entry  

  1. To enter the lottery, you must purchase a ticket before the closing date of:
    • Online entries - by 11.59pm on Sunday 18 May 2025.  
    • Postal entries – Wednesday 14 May 2025
  2. Payment for participation in the Raffle can be made by cheque, cash, card or via the Charity’s website.
  3. Postal orders, CAF and other charity vouchers cannot be accepted as payment for Tickets. We will take all reasonable steps to return entries made via these methods to the player.  
  4. Any money for tickets which we have been unable to return to the player or which have been received after the closing date will be treated as donations, and Yorkshire Cancer Research takes no responsibility for late postal delivery. This includes for entries made via cheque which cannot be processed due to insufficient funds and if contact cannot be made to arrange alternative payment the entry will be made invalid.  
  5. Yorkshire Cancer Research is not responsible for any technical issues or failures that may prevent or delay the submission or receipt of entries, such as network issues.  
  6. Payment must be made in advance before you can be entered into the draw. Only entries for which payment has been received in full are eligible to win a prize. Each ticket costs £5 and is non-transferable. In order to promote responsible gambling, no more than 20 tickets can be purchased per person.  
  7. By purchasing tickets, you are confirming you are 18 years of age or over. No tickets should be sold to, or on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years. If a ticket is sold unknowingly to, on behalf of, or for a person under the age of 18 they will be exempt from the raffle and will forfeit their prize, and their entry money will be returned to them. The Charity reserves the right to undertake age verification on any raffle participant.  
  8. By entering this lottery, participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and by the Yorkshire Cancer Research decisions, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the raffle.  

Prize draw

  1. The Centenary Raffle offers 1 x first place prize of £1000 and 5 x second place prizes of £100. Prizes cannot be swapped, exchanged or refunded.  
  2. The winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received and the draw will take place on Wednesday 21 May 2025. Your chances of winning are dependent on the number of entries in the draw. Please note that entrants will only be eligible to win one prize per person.  
  3. Winners will be selected at random with the first ticket number drawn receiving the first prize of £1000. The next five numbers selected will each receive the second prize of £100.  
  4. The winners will be notified by post, email or telephone no later than 7 days after the draw date and must confirm their acceptance of the prize within 7 days of being notified. Please keep the ticket number as record of proof of purchase.  
  5. If a winner cannot be contacted, fails to confirm their acceptance of the prize, or is found to be ineligible or in breach of these terms and conditions, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize and select an alternative winner.  
  6. The winners will also be published on the Yorkshire Cancer Research website and social media no later than two weeks after the draw date. If you would prefer that your information is not disclosed publicly if you win a prize, please email supportercare@ycr.org.uk to let us know. We may still need to provide this information to a regulator if challenged, to demonstrate that a valid lottery has taken place.  
  7. We may ask winners to participate in reasonable publicity related to the Centenary Celebration Raffle, such as providing a photo, a testimonial, or a social media post. Winners are under no obligation to agree and may decline any such request without affecting their entitlement to the prize.  
  8. The Charity accepts no responsibility for entries, tickets and/or payments which are lost, damaged, illegible or from which the participant  cannot be identified, or for any technical failure or event, beyond the Charity’s reasonable control, which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
  9. The lottery and these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
