Soft toy tombola raises funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research

A soft toy tombola which has raised thousands of pounds for Yorkshire Cancer Research over the past seven years was once again able to go ahead following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

The charity’s Huddersfield Volunteer Group ran their annual soft toy tombola at the Honley Show Centenary Event on Saturday, September 18.

The tombola, which included more than 200 soft toys, raised £242 for the charity. The funds raised will go towards the vital work that Yorkshire Cancer Research funds in the region.

The fundraiser was overseen by Margaret Porter who has been a member of the Huddersfield Volunteer Group for 30 years.

Jane Dutton, Chair of the Huddersfield Volunteer Group, said: “Our soft toy tombola is always a popular fundraiser, and has raised almost £1400 over the past seven years. The money raised will help support pioneering research that improves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer in Yorkshire.”
